In lieu of gifts, consider helping us buy a clearcut forest in Oregon!

Everybody has been asking where we are registered for wedding gifts. Because we have no idea where we'll end up (and luggage space is tight), we're asking our guests not to bring gifts. However, there is something we want...

Many Oregon forests are owned by the timber industry. After clear-cutting, parcels of barren forest land are sold at a discount — about $1,000 per acre — so that they can be re-harvested decades later.

Our dream is to buy one of these clear-cut parcels, and simply allow it to return to nature. In this way, a small Oregon forest will grow alongside our marriage and remain long after we are gone.

In lieu of a wedding gift, please consider contributing to our “Wedding Forest Fund.” We have already met with a land agent and are looking to buy the clearcut parcel early next year. The more we raise, the bigger the parcel we can return to nature.

If you'd like to contribute, we've can take checks, jars of pennies, euros, dollars, pesos, gold bars, whatever. And here's are some links to contribute digitally:
